48,772 Votes to Zero: The Split Vote Isn't Mine | Alani Bankhead

Original air date: July 9, 2026 Montana Democrats nominated Alani Bankhead in the June primary. Her statement on the split vote, and on the people who can't wait while politicians play games. I got 48,772 votes. Seth Bodnar got zero. And he’s been in third place the last three polls. Tester had a quarter billion dollars and still couldn’t win. Bodnar created the split vote; not me. Therefore, him dropping out is the only solution. And let me be clear: I do not care about political drama. Because there are people dying due to lack of healthcare access. People who have been sexually abused and victimized aren’t getting support or justice to the level they deserve. People have gone missing and been murdered especially our MMIW sisters who are not getting the same resources or support. Montana’s electorate are gleefully teeing up our public lands for exploitation and sale. Our ag community has been at the breaking point financially and mental health wise for too long. And we have kids going hungry in our state in the richest country in the world. While our tax payer dollars are being used to kill Iranian school girls. Thank you to the legislators who have shown us exactly who you are by entertaining any option other than calling on the Independent to step aside. The voters who supported both of us because they believed we shared the same democratic values noticed, too. Integrity isn’t just about what you say when it’s easy, it’s about what you’re willing to stand for when it matters. The days of insider deals among power brokers, lobbyists, and party bosses are gone. The only meeting I will indulge is the one where the Independent drops out and wants to talk logistics on how to support us beating Alme. Because unlike those who want to play political games, my only mission has been alleviating the suffering of my fellow Montanans.
