Kaleilani "Kalei" Grant is a Native Hawaiian survivor of sex trafficking. She and Alani met in 2018 at the Hawaii Department of the Attorney General, where Kalei worked in the Missing Child Center and Alani served in the Internet Crimes Against Children unit. Together they built Hawaii's first operation to find missing and exploited children, and that operation still runs today. Kalei leads it. Alani nominated Kalei for the U.S. Department of Justice's National Child Protection Award, which Kalei received in 2021. In 2023, U.S. Senator Mazie Hirono invited her as her guest to the State of the Union to help spotlight the crisis of violence against Native women and girls.
